GENERAL INFORMATION

Membrane surfaces for water treatment, applied as polyurethane paints, are traditionally based on coal tar with TDI-based prepolymers. Coal tar contains some aromatic substances that have been found to be hazardous to health, and TDI itself is a very volatile isocyananate. For this reason, we have developed DUOPRENE 2000, a product without coal tar, based on MDI, which is an isocyanate with low volatility.

DUOPRENE 2000 has all of the advantages of coal tar, without any of its hazardous properties, since it does not contain tar. Instead, it is based on MDI based polyurethane prepolymers.DUOPRENE 2000 is supplied as a single component, but reacts as a two-component reaction system, since the treatment mechanism enables a cross-binding reaction with atmospheric moisture. Thanks to its liquid application, the entire surface can be covered by a seamless membrane that is flexible to all surface warps.

DUOPRENE 2000 is a very strong, highly elastic product and is ideal for roof defects, namely for roofs exposed to heat and structural movements.

DUOPRENE 2000 is a waterproof paint, which is applied in layers at least 0.5 mm thick. It can be applied by a brush, spray, or a roller, and it has higher viscosity than a common paint and should not be diluted. It does not have to be heated prior to application . The supplied material is highly thixotrophic and should not be mixed for vertical applications. It is, however, beneficial to mix the product prior to spray application.

DUOPRENE 2000 does not become brittle due to ultraviolet rays, age, or weather conditions. Therefore it does not crack, as in the case with more traditional bitumen-based products.

DUOPRENE 2000 is permanently flexible seamless membrane with a good adhesion to a number of surfaces, including felt, asphalt, concrete, slate, shingles, brick, glass, and metal. It is not damaged by heat fluctuations, so it is resistant against cracks during low temperatures and it does not decompose due to high temperature.
